How the words were chosen: the 1,000 most frequent words in spoken Spanish, ranked by how often they appear in 27 million words of film and TV subtitles (Wiktionary's Spanish frequency list, CC BY-SA). Forms are grouped under their dictionary word (es, era and fue count as ser); names, interjections and swear words are left out. Cards follow that order, most frequent first.
Audio: four ElevenLabs AI voices (two female, two male), each cloned from a native speaker from Spain, alternating by card. AI-generated, not human recordings.
Sentences: example sentences are AI-written, each reviewed by a second AI model and checked by hand.
